[music] >> these dramatic pictures tell the story of an alarm fire at a plastics plant in fairfield. this had a community on edge for most of the day. black smoke poured into the sky. we

are live on the scene with the very latest. >> remember the black smoke that we were to tell you--we were telling you about earlier, it has almost calm down. it is pretty much dissipated, you cannot really see any more but the firefighters are still on the scene making sure that this fire stays under control. >> this dark thick black smoke could be seen from miles away, large plastic containers like these that caught fire around 1:00 p.m. at this business in fairfield. this was the scene from sky for. you can see the firefighters tapping the blaze from different angles. there was concern that it was cryptograph area but the fairfield fire marshal said there were able to contain the fire to only about 5 a. in the back of the building. three fire fighters retreated from minor injuries. the cause of the fire was accidental but

the fire marshal said this fire was started by employees using some type of open flame, possibly a torch. there was no damage to the structure and resident with a 1 mi. radius were notified, andrea was on his way- to work when he noticed the fire. >> still look like it was just a backyard fire with some grills going and then it went berserk. >> now you can barely see any flames. we have been told from the fire marshal at one point there were at least 120 personnel from fire departments all across in this area. some firefighters will remain at the scene to make sure that this area remains under control. live in fairfield kron4 news. >> you can see on the map exactly where in fairfield the fire is located here it is near the travis air force

get a lot of money to fix it this way. so we're very concerned, the parents came luckily it did not get worse. it was really bad but no one got hurt inside it was really pretty scared a lot. i was worried myself, i am not going to live. >> the day care provider was worried about the black smoke drifting into the neighborhood and causing breathing problems for the children. luckily when firefighters contain the blaze, the smoke started to dissipate. >> we have seen a wind shift that is being carried the flames off to a non inhabited area. we know that fairfield down to the south and to the west are burning, but the winds are coming out of the southwest blowing from the southwest to northeast blowing in that direction, you could see nothing here in that area this is the air force base right here. now is blowing away from the air force base, typically to 74

saying that the mother of four boys was having sex with their 16 year-old son. it led to her being charged with four counts including three felony charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. one count of molesting a child, police say during the investigation they seized computer equipment and phones at her home. there are reports that she sent several thousand text messages to the alleged male victim and made several hundred phone calls to him. also she gave him alcohol and drugs, the name of the victim is not being released by the police. if convicted she could face a maximum of four years in a state prison and be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life. when i am teresa estacio with kron4 news. >> a look at our extended forecast, the warming trend against small and continues into the weekend we will talk more about the warmer temperatures coming up in just a little bit.

to girls to a secluded area and sexually assaulted them. their admission carries the same weight as pleading guilty in an adult court. their sentences are scheduled for next month. prosecutors say that suspected serial murderer joseph naso kept a safety deposit box to store news clippings related to the victims that he is charged with killing. the box also contain a list of 10 women, four of them he is charged with killing as well as six other names. prosecutors have not said if the remaining six on the list were located. the 77 year- old is charged with the murders of four california women. the murder span from the 1970's to the 1990's and all four victims had matching first and last name initials. police in east palo alto are making progress in the menlo park woman that was killed in an

apparent gang-related shooting earlier this month. rob fladeboe reports that kathryn fisher was not the intended target. >> 19 year-old kathryn fisher was shot and killed early in the morning of july 4th --13th she and a friend were dropping off some one and the police say that the bulls were meant for someone else. >> the information that we have developed leads us to believe that kathryn fisher was not the intended target and it was another subject that was inside of the vehicle. >> the revelations concerning fischer's death comes as police on monday named three persons of interest linked to fisher's death in two other killings. >> we believe the subjects involved in this crime are gang members but we do not know what the motive was a gang on gang type of crime. at this point in the investigation we do not

>> a portion of highway to 37 was closed afternoon after a big rig truck slammed into the center divider and was caught on fire the driver was killed. this happened in the eastbound lanes of to 37. charles clifford was in the south bay and has details. >> according to the california highway patrol the driver of a big rig truck carrying a load of dirt loss control and witnesses say the truck slammed into the center divider. >> that collision overturned the vehicle and trap the driver in the vehicle and then the big rig caught on fire. >> the driver was unable to escape and died before the rescue crews could arrive. chp had to shut down traffic in both directions for several hours exactly what caused the driver to lose control is still under investigation no one else

was injured in the accident and they were able to open all leas by 7:00 p.m.. as of late tuesday afternoon the driver of the truck had not yet been identified. >> a young teenager is recovering tonight after being stabbed while walking to the dog park. san jose police say that sunny along with two other suspects that the 13 year-old the victim was with a friend near erickson park when it all happened. the boys suffered injuries to both of his kidneys, the investigator said it three suspects were arrested after the crime and two of them are minors. he man accused of opening fire on sampras's the police pleaded not guilty today the police said they spotted this man last month on ellis street. he was wanted on a $75,000 warrant at the time. investigators say what officers approached him, he shot at them the officers fired back and because the car to crash. he faces

home late on friday is expected to leave the hospital tonight. you can see the bullet that went through her bedroom window. it hit the girl in the chest, the wound was considered life-threatening however earlier today her father said that she is doing well enough to head home. this fire at a plastic plants in fairfield, the firefighter say that because of the fire was an accident. it broke out about 1:00 p.m. today in a storage area behind the macro plastics industrial area near the air force base. it was contained about 4:00 p.m. this afternoon. a los gatos mother accused of having sex with a 16 year-old boy is set to go to trial tomorrow. police say this she sent several thousand text messages and made hundreds of phone calls to the victim. if convicted she could face a maximum of four years in state prison and be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.

possible suspects. the helicopter was used to give the officers on the ground cover as well as a drug operation which officials say that this shooting incident in the remote location has all the markings of. after four hours of searching in this area the search was called off the park police say that this time it appears that the two suspects got away. investigators say that the ground search did not reveal any evidence of marijuana growing operation the next thing for them to do is to review video recording from above by helicopter of the area that was searched. investigators say what they find on the video will determine the next course of the investigation. >> the east bay regional park district police say that they find marijuana plantations growing on their public lands an average of two, to three times per year. we continue our team coverage with a maureen kelly who explains the safety concerns that these

obviously attract a new team. now there is the 49ers president, he says the fears which in the agreement that will carve out money for california teams that want to build new stadiums and in this deal, there is a 1.5 salary-cap credit meeting that lead the money would be dedicated to building new stadiums for teams that needed and want them. this is all teams, the 49ers aerators want some money. and then there's the idea of the raiders and the 49ers sharing a stadium. they said we have discussed it, and there is nothing in the works. it is something that we remain open to but it has to be the right deal for both teams. the raiders responding saying we have an open mind about the possibility of sharing a stadium and are discussing that with the 49ers with whom we have a terrific working relationship. >> good to hear that they have a terrific

relationship but, if they do this where will it be? >> that is the sticking point. obviously, the date is separating the raiders and the niners. the raiders owner wants it right on the site. the 49ers meanwhile, they have the wheels in motion for their own stadium plans down in santa clara. $1 billion project so we are talking big money here. that is where the team is headquartered. a lot of the fan's that i have talked with said that they do not want to share a stadium. they want their own stadium for their own team. but new york, the biggest market out there, they have an arrangement. the jets and giants are sharing a brand- new venue. so, it is working in new york, the nfl is urging the bay area teams to see what new york has done and follow suit. so they say, you learn to share in kindergarten, so expand on that a little bit. >> it will save everybody's money. >> we will see what happens. pg&e is asking the state commission if they can shut down five power plants in east, to cost accounting. one in bay point, to in pittsburgh and two in antioch. we explain why and how the closures could benefit the community. >> this is one of the five power plants that pg&e wants to shut down. they see the plants are old and use an outdated fuel source, they burn a substance that is less desirable than other modern fuel. they say they will replace the power output from the five plants with two new facilities and other parts of the state. the company says that the move could save ratepayers and nearly $15 million and will cut down on greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere. the move is being applauded by environmental groups but could mean a loss of about 100 jobs.

the intersection of a and octavia in san francisco where recently a fatal accident occurred. they have read like cameras in two directions but not for right turns, so drivers exploit that fact. i was surprised by the amount of distracted drivers either texting or talking on the phone. this rule does not seem to be designed for big rigs, but there are a lot of trucks passing through sometimes eating. and something else i notice, when the light turns green, drivers often just sit there causing people to blow their horns as loudly. often it is because the driver is in the wrong lane, so they blocked traffic. then there is this a driver that turns from the no turning lane. it seems like with all the traffic engineering in the world, nothing can help bad driving. or
